This statement was made by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), while leading a delegation to visit the border station under the Tay Ninh provincial Border Guard Command on September 17.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Chief of the VPA’s General Staff, and leaders from the Vietnam Border Guard Command, Military Region 7 Command and Department of Operations under the VPA’s General Staff also attended the meeting.

At the working session, representatives of the border station briefed the delegation on the political security in the region, the fight against crimes in border areas, border external affairs, as well as the coordination with local armed forces in promoting combat readiness and conducting exercises.
In addition, they also pointed out several factors that recently affected the border management and protection of Tay Ninh province and proposed the approval of higher levels for building new barracks and upgrading border patrol routes.
Concluding the working session, General Nam hailed the great efforts of the border station over the past time, contributing to firmly maintaining political security and social order and safety in such an important strategic position at the Southwestern gateway of the country.
He also asked the unit’s chain-of-command to continue embracing situations in the region, promoting border external affairs with local authorities and other border protection forces of neighboring countries, and heightening vigilance and closely working with local armed forces in this work.
In addition, the border station should strictly observe the military discipline and regulations and raise training quality so as to fulfill all assigned missions, making contributions to building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
