Department 16 receives First-class Fatherland Protection Order

Vice Chairman of the General Department of Political Affairs Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh attended and delivered a speech at the event. 

Over the past 45 years, generations of officers and soldiers of Department 16 have consistently demonstrated firm political stance and absolute loyalty, while upholding the qualities of courageous and creative intelligence officers and recording many outstanding achievements. The department has consistently affirmed its important position and role within the overall structure of the General Department II and Viet Nam’s defense intelligence sector. It has twice been honored with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, along with numerous other prestigious awards. On the occasion of its 45th foundation anniversary, the department was honored with the First-class Fatherland Protection Order.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh congratulated Department 16 on its achievements, requiring that the department continue to thoroughly grasp the requirements and tasks of Fatherland protection in the new situation; remain proactive, responsive and creative; and improve the quality and effectiveness of task performance.

The general also noted that Department 16 should focus on building comprehensively strong, “exemplary and typical” agencies and units, as well as a clean and strong Party organization with high combat strength. He stressed the importance of building a contingent of officers and Party members with firm political stance, sharp and profound political thinking and vision, and comprehensive as well as specialized knowledge, thereby meeting the task requirements in the new situation.
