Present at the meeting were Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, Deputy Defense Minister, and Tran Xuan Ha, Deputy Minister of Finance.
The event was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, and Nguyen Van Can, Director of the General Department of the Vietnam Customs.
In the 2012-2019 period, the two agencies have efficiently supported and coordinated together in accordance with their agreed contents.
Particularly, they provided each other with hundreds of information sources related to trade fraud, tax evasion, illegal foreign currency transport, social order, security, and entry-exit.
As a result, they treated nearly 3,000 cases in violation of border security, over 5,500 goods smuggling and illegal transport cases, and almost 200 drug trading and transporting cases with a total worth of VND 100 billion.
They have also conducted more than 1,500 joint patrols with the participation of over 9,600 people from the two agencies.
At the meeting, the two services signed coordination regulations for the current period, with a focus on expanding their cooperation to contribute to firmly defending the national sovereignty and maintaining social order and business activities at border gates and border areas.
