PANO - Following a special journey, a CASA-295 aircraft landed at Gia Lam Military Airport.

At the reception site, boxes containing biological samples of martyrs’ remains were sequentially unloaded in a deeply solemn atmosphere. Every footstep and movement made by the officers and soldiers was carried out with the utmost care, as if cherishing fragments of memories of the fierce years of war.

National flags draped over the sample boxes stood out across the tarmac. The gunfire and bombings in years of wartime are gone, replaced only by the quiet footsteps and profound reverence of those welcoming fallen heroes back. Behind each biological sample is a soldier who left their youth on the battlefield, and the agonizing wait of mothers, wives, and children desperate for news.

Leaving Gia Lam airport, the biological samples were transported to a specialized unit for DNA testing. A new journey begins, one where these samples serve as a bridge between the past and the present, between the deceased and their families and hometowns, offering these fallen soldiers a chance to finally regain their names.
