The Vietnamese side was led by Senior Colonel Vu Van Phu, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard Command, while the Chinese side was led by Xia Junfeng, Head of Jinping Border Management Company under Honghe Border Management Detachment.

The two sides established a joint patrol command in accordance with the operational plan. Each side formed four land patrol teams and exchanged two liaison officer teams comprising four personnel, with each side assigning two officers. They conducted a joint patrol along the Viet Nam-China border from Border Marker No.17 to Border Marker No.71.

The four-hour patrol was conducted under the “border-to-border, point-to-point, line-to-line” approach. The two sides mobilized eight teams, comprising 68 personnel, conducted six mutual greetings, and distributed more than 300 leaflets on legal education and dissemination to border residents. The total patrol distance exceeded 150 kilometers.

The two sides agreed that the joint border patrol had achieved its expected objectives and results. They also agreed to continue thoroughly implementing the spirit of the minutes of the 20th provincial-level talks signed by delegations from the Border Guard Commands of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, and Lao Cai provinces of Viet Nam and the delegation from the Yunnan General Border Inspection Station of China.

The two sides will continue improving regional coordination mechanisms and work together to resolutely combat cross-border crimes, creating a favorable social environment along the border for customs clearance and expanding friendly exchanges and cooperation.

They also agreed to maintain the exchange of border-related information through correspondence and hotlines to promptly and promptly resolve arising border issues. In addition, they will further strengthen border patrols and control, resolutely combat criminal and illegal activities, and step up dissemination and education on border-related laws and policies to raise border residents’ awareness of legal compliance and border protection.
