General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his delight at visiting the two museums for the first time, hoping to gain a deeper understanding of Algeria’s history, country and revolution through the artifacts, documents and activities at the two museums, particularly the Algerian people’s steadfast will and resilience.
Speaking highly of the role of the National Museum of the Mujahideen and the Army Museum of Algeria, General Nguyen Trong Nghia said that the museums are important venues for educating the public about national traditions, patriotism and friendship, while helping visitors learn more about the bonds between Algeria and its international friends.
The Vietnamese GDP chairman said that Viet Nam has completed the construction of the Viet Nam Military History Museum, which showcases the history of the Vietnamese people’s struggle and the victories achieved by the Vietnamese military and people, while honoring the support provided by international friends, including Algeria. In the coming period, the museum will establish a friendship space showcasing international support for the Vietnamese revolution.
He also hoped that Algeria would pay attention to and coordinate in donating and exchanging artifacts, memorabilia, books, documents and films for exhibition and traditional education purposes. Such cooperation, he said, would help people, especially younger generations, of both countries better understand, preserve and further promote the historical values of the two nations and their armed forces.
During the visit to the Army Museum, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and delegations from the two countries watched the film “Viet Nam-Algeria: Far Yet Close,” prepared by the Vietnamese side.
Speaking at the screening, Lt. Gen. Mabrouk Saba, Director of the Department of Information and Communication for the General Staff of the People’s National Army of Algeria, affirmed that the traditional solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese and Algerian peoples serve as a symbol of solidarity among nations. Despite the passage of time and the great geographical distance between the two countries, the solidarity between their peoples has been preserved. The film recreates the history of bilateral relations and the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the two peoples.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia spoke highly of the attention paid by Algeria’s leaders, military, Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders to historical and cultural education, as reflected in monuments and museums. He said that the two museums being located next to each other creates favorable conditions for the public and international friends to visit and study Algeria’s history, traditions, country and military.
Also at the Army Museum, General Nguyen Trong Nghia met with and presented gifts to Vietnamese expatriates living in Algeria.
