Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia prepare for joint civil defense exercise

The delegation inspected the designated areas for the exercise and heard reports from relevant agencies and units on their preparations and recommendations.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang and Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Dao inspect designated venues for the exercise.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang praised the agencies and units for pro-actively overcoming difficulties and making thorough preparations for the event. He requested them to continue upholding their sense of responsibility, closely coordinate, and enhance synergy to ensure the exercise will take place on schedule, with high quality and absolute safety.

In addition, relevant units need to maintain regular coordination with the Lao and Cambodian militaries to promptly address emerging issues and ensure the successful organization of the exercise, making it a practical activity in trilateral defense cooperation.

The 2026 joint civil defense exercise among the militaries of Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia is part of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense’s 2026 defense diplomacy plan. The exercise is expected to contribute to consolidating the traditional friendship and solidarity among the three neighboring countries, while enhancing the three militaries’ coordination capabilities in responding to natural disasters, minimizing loss, and protecting people’s peaceful lives.

The exercise is scheduled to take place in October, with the expected participation of the defense ministers of Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia.
