At the meeting, General Lich expressed his pleasure over positive developments in the Vietnam-France defense ties over the past time while highlighting good outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation in various fields, including personnel training, military medicine, hydrograph and experience sharing in UN peacekeeping operations.

The host believed that the two countries still have much potential for defense cooperation. He asked that the two sides should soon sign a Vietnam-France framework agreement on defense cooperation while boosting their cooperation on personnel training, military medicine, hydrodrography and experience sharing in UN peacekeeping operations, to contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-France strategic partnership.

General Lich hoped that the French Ambassador in his capacity will actively contribute to developing relations between Vietnam and France as well as defense cooperation between the two militaries.

For his part, the French Ambassador Lortholary showed his consensus on General Lich’s suggestions, recommending that the two defense ministries consider expanding defense cooperation in new spheres to meet the need and potential of the two sides. He also believed that the bilateral defense ties between France and Vietnam will see new fine developments in the coming time.

The guest affirmed that the French side always wants to enhance defense cooperation with Vietnam.
