Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong presenting gifts to units on the island

Tho Chu is the largest island in the Tho Chu archipelago, located in Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province, covering an area of around 13.95 sq.km. The island has 549 households and a population of 1,899 people, who mainly work as fishermen or are immigrants from other regions.

During the event, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong spoke highly of the efforts made by troops stationed on Tho Chu Island. He acknowledged the difficulties they faced but recognized how they had managed to maintain their political responsibility, solidarity, and commitment to successfully complete all assigned tasks in 2022 and the first few months of 2023.

The local units have demonstrated excellent combat readiness, training, and drill quality, as well as maintaining regulatory building and military disciplines. The deputy minister stressed that the units’ Party and political work was in line with higher-level instructions, resolutions, and missions of each unit.

Furthermore, the units have collaborated well with the local authorities to keep track of all situations, promoted law education for locals, and performed search and rescue missions while supporting fishermen to venture out to sea.

Policy beneficiaries and needy people receiving gifts

As part of the delegation's visit, 17 gifts, each worth VND 5 million, were presented to local units, and 23 gifts, each worth VND 1 million, were presented to policy beneficiaries.
