According to the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command, amidst the complicated flood situation, military units evacuated 653 households, comprising 2,468 residents, in seven communes of Lao Bao, Ba Long, Lia, Khe Sanh, Ta Rut, Kim Ngan, and Huong Hiep. Flooding occurred at 45 locations across 13 communes, inundating 457 houses in four communes and wards, generally by 0.3 to 1 meter, with some areas exceeding 1 meter. Heavy rain and rising floodwaters also caused three barges to break their mooring lines, drift, and become stranded near My Chanh railway and road bridges in Nam Hai Lang commune.

That morning, Lt. Gen. Ha Tho Binh, Commander of Military Region 4, inspected disaster prevention and search-and-rescue efforts in Nam Hai Lang and Dien Sanh communes. He directed the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command to closely coordinate with other forces to ensure safety around My Chanh railway bridge, promptly address emerging situations, and prevent incidents affecting infrastructure and traffic. When conditions permit, the stranded barges are to be salvaged promptly to ensure the safety of the railway line. Forces must also prepare adequate food, drinking water and essential supplies in case the disaster continues. Above all, they must protect the lives and property of residents and ensure the safety of personnel involved in disaster response and search-and-rescue operations.
Over the past two days, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command has deployed personnel and vehicles under the “four on-the-spot” approach, inspecting vulnerable areas, issuing warnings, assisting residents in deeply flooded and isolated areas, and urgently carrying out recovery measures. A total of 880 regular troops and militia, along with 94 vehicles, have participated in disaster prevention, search and rescue, and efforts to help residents and local authorities respond to the floods.

As the water receded, the forces focused on clearing large amounts of mud and soil, collecting waste along roads and in residential areas, and restoring the landscape and environment. They also prioritized helping people living alone move their belongings and clean their homes so that residents could return to normal life as soon as possible.
