Defense Minister Phan Van Giang welcomed at MR4 Command

At the meeting, MR4 Chief Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh reported on the local armed forces’ military-defense task performance in 2021 and their missions for 2022.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Giang commended the MR4’s armed forces for their achievements obtained last year.

The defense chief highlighted Nghe An province for its efforts to keep being a green and a safe zone though it was badly hit by COVID-19. He attributed the province’s COVID-19 success to the contribution of the whole political system and people, and the high sense of responsibility and active engagement of the MR4’s armed forces.

General Giang noted that based on its strategic garrisoned location, MR4 should focus on building armed forces, especially the self-defense and militia forces; and give advice to the provincial leaders to pay due attention to this force-building.

General Giang expressed his delight when hearing that the province has mobilized over VND 100 billion to support its poor households to enjoy a cozy Tet holiday. He hoped that MR4 and Nghe An province will continue to implement policies and mass mobilization work fully and effectively.

The defense minister was pleased with the news that MR4 has visited and presented Tet gifts to thousands of policy beneficiaries, and hundreds of needy troops and troops’ families in Truong Sa island district and on DK1 platforms.

As the lunar New Year is around the corner, General Giang wished MR4’s troops and local party, authority and people health, happiness, success and development. He also took this chance to present Tet gifts to the Military Region 4 Command, Nghe An provincial People’s Committee, provincial Military Command, Border Guard Command and public security force.

After the visit to MR4, Defense Minister Phan Van Giang and his entourage offered incense and flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien special national relic site and visited Uncle Ho’s parents’ villages and Chung Son temple in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province.

The same day, General Giang extended Tet greetings to Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command and checked preparation for Tet of the local armed forces.

During the visit, the defense chief highly praised the local armed forces’ all-out efforts and achievements in teaming with local party committee and government to achieve the dual tasks of economic development and COVID-19 control.

Regarding the future missions, General Giang urged the local armed forces to continue to keep a close watch on situational developments, strictly observe combat readiness duties, implement pandemic prevention and control measures, prepare for the recruitment drive 2022, and conduct training safely.

Units should ensure policies and improve spiritual and material lives of troops during upcoming Tet holiday, he added.

The defense minister also thanked the local party committee and authorities for their support to the local armed forces to excellently fulfill their assignments.
