On this occasion, Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang sent a compliment letter to the department, while Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong sent a flower basket to congratulate the unit.
At the celebration, delegates recalled the 60-year tradition of the logistic sector of Military Region 4. In particular, on October 15, 1945 under President Ho Chi Minh’s decision, War Zone 4 was established with four main parts, including Staff Office, Political Affairs Office, Supplies Office and Office of the Command.
The Supplies Office was a key force to assist the War Zone Command in providing logistic services for combat. On November 16, 1961, the Ministry of National Defense issued a decision on upgrading the office to the department to meet the requirements of ensuring logistic services for task implementation of the military region’s armed forces.
In the resistance war for national independence, the logistic sector of Military Region 4 overcame all challenges to ensure logistic supplies for the military region’s armed forces to fulfill their national protection mission and international service in Laos.
In the renewal period, the military region’s logistic sector has actively made recommendation to higher levels to renew logistic supplies methods to be in line with the State’s new economic management models. Many emulation movements launched by the unit have contributed to raising its capability to fulfill all assigned missions.
In the 2016-2021 period, Military Region 4’s logistic sector has actively ensured logistic supplies for regular and unexpected combat readiness missions, natural disaster response, and search and rescue tasks while paying attention to production to ensure troops’ health.
With its outstanding achievements in the national liberation cause, defense consolidation and national construction and defense over the past 60 years, the department was honored with the second-class Exploit Order, the first-class Feats-of-Arm Order, the second-class and third-class Fatherland Protection Order and other noble orders. Seventeen collectives and 13 individuals of the department were honored with the title of the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces. Thousands of its units and staff were presented with orders of different kinds.
On the occasion, authorized by the State President, Military Region 4’s Commanding Officer Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh handed over the first-class Fatherland Protection Order to Military Region 4’s Logistic Department.
