Lao security unit extends Tet greetings to Vietnamese border guard unit
PANO - A delegation of Laos’ Houaphanh provincial Security Command, led by Colonel Amphone Phanmachan Am, on January 15 visited and extended Tet greetings to officers and soldiers of the Thanh Hoa provincial Border Guard Command on the occasion of the upcoming traditional lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in Vietnam.
Presenting Tet gifts to the Vietnamese unit, Colonel Amphone Phanmachan Am sent best New Year greetings to the command’s leaders and troops. He believed that the two sides’ continuous effective coordination would help foster the friendship and special solidarity between the two countries and contribute to protecting the nations’ shared border.
In reply, Senior Colonel Do Ngoc Minh, who is a member of the provincial Party Committee and Commanding Officer of the provincial Border Guard Command, expressed thanks to the Lao unit for its sentiments.
At the meeting, the host and guest informed each other about their provinces’ socio-economic and cultural development, defense and security work; and shared important information about the fight against crime, free immigration, and border safeguarding.

They reached an agreement on continuing to exchange information, coordinate at border gates, organize bilateral patrols for border and border marker protection, combat different kinds of crime, particularly drug-related ones, and prevent activities that affect the political security, social order and safety in border areas. They consented to jointly ensure safety during Tet holidays and festivals as well as major events of each country.
