An overview of the meeting |
Highlighting the long-standing traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Russia, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang expressed his pleasure at the successful state visit to Russia recently made by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, saying the visit had provided fresh momentum for further strengthening bilateral relations.
Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang affirmed that Viet Nam always values and remembers the great and effective assistance provided by the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia during Viet Nam's struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as in national construction and defense. This support has included valuable assistance in the long-term preservation and absolute protection of President Ho Chi Minh's embalmed body.
On the occasion, the Deputy Defense Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to Soviet and Russian scientists and medical experts, particularly VILAR, for their longstanding support and cooperation with the Viet Nam People's Army, particularly the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command, in carrying out the mission of preserving and safeguarding President Ho Chi Minh's embalmed body for more than half a century.

He highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and professionalism demonstrated by the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command and VILAR in implementing the first phase of renovation work at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. He expressed his confidence that the two sides would successfully complete the renovation work this year and in the years ahead, in accordance with the cooperation agreement for the 2026-2030 period.
Regarding future cooperation, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang proposed the two sides focus on maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of traditional cooperation between VILAR, the Moscow Biomedical Research Center, the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command and Institute 69; expanding cooperation into areas of mutual strength, such as research and conservation of Viet Nam's tropical medicinal plant gene resources, extraction of bioactive compounds, development of medicines from medicinal plants and essential oils; and cooperation in training and developing young scientific personnel.
For his part, Academician Nikolai Ivanovich affirmed that Viet Nam and Russia in general, and VILAR and Viet Nam in particular, have enjoyed a long history of cooperation. He spoke highly of the positive results achieved by the two sides, particularly in the sacred and noble mission of preserving President Ho Chi Minh's embalmed body.

On the occasion, Academician Nikolai Ivanovich thanked Viet Nam's Ministry of National Defense for facilitating effective and smooth coordination between VILAR and the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command. He affirmed that the institute would continue its efforts to work closely with the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command in the coming period to ensure the effective preservation and safeguarding of President Ho Chi Minh's embalmed body, thereby contributing to further deepening Viet Nam-Russia relations.
