During the meeting, the two sides agreed to maintain existing defense cooperation mechanisms while pursuing more substantive steps and expanding cooperation into new areas. They emphasized the need for each mechanism to produce concrete results that directly contribute to their respective capabilities as well as to peace, stability and development in the region.

The two sides will focus on increasing exchanges of delegations at all levels, particularly high-level ones, and maintaining regular dialogue and consultation mechanisms. They agreed to hold the 16th Viet Nam - India Defense Policy Dialogue in India in early 2027 to strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding and help shape the development of bilateral defense relations.

They will also promote cooperation in training, United Nations peacekeeping and the defense industry; accelerate the implementation of credit and grant-aid packages; and explore potential cooperation in areas such as cybersecurity, military medicine, and search and rescue.

Within the framework of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+), the two sides will continue close coordination and work to successfully fulfill their roles as co-chairs of the ADMM+ Experts’ Working Group on Cybersecurity for the 2027-2030 cycle.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang expressed his wish to welcome the Indian Defense Secretary, a high-level delegation from India’s Ministry of Defense and military, and Indian defense companies to Viet Nam to attend the third Viet Nam Defense Expo in December this year.

Indian Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh cordially invited Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang and a high-level delegation from Viet Nam’s Ministry of National Defense to attend the Aerospace Exhibition in India in February 2027.
