Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and Russian President Vladimir Putin witnessed the event online from Moscow, Russia, during the former’s state visit to Russia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang said the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Center had become a vivid and enduring symbol of scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.
He described the center as a distinctive model of cooperation and an effective bridge connecting agencies, organizations, and scientists from Viet Nam and Russia.
He noted that the project reflected the attention of senior leaders of both countries to strengthening the center’s capabilities while expanding cooperation in practical and humanitarian fields, linking scientific research with the need to protect human health.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang expressed sincere gratitude to President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Government, and Rospotrebnadzor for providing equipment and training personnel, thereby helping strengthen the center’s scientific research capacity.
He expressed confidence that, with the attention and guidance of leaders of both countries and close coordination between Rospotrebnadzor and scientific organizations from Viet Nam and Russia, the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Center would operate the laboratory effectively, further promote its role as a bridge for scientific cooperation, and make practical contributions to disease research, prevention, and control.
