Defense senior officer receives Korean guest
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, hosted a reception on July 5 for Admiral Um Huyn-seong, Chief of Naval Operations of the Republic of Korea (RoK), during his visit to Vietnam.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry’s leadership, General Giang welcomed Admiral Um Huyn-seong to Vietnam and affirmed that the bilateral defense ties have witnessed remarkable developments over the past time, especially between the two navies. Notably, at the end of April 2018, the two defense ministries signed a joint vision statement on defense cooperation towards 2030 to boost defense relations to be on a par with the two countries’ relationship, the host stressed.

For his part, the guest thanked the host for the warm welcome and briefed him on the results of his talks with Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy.
During the meeting between the two naval leaders, both sides discussed measures to bolster naval cooperation in the time to come.

Highly applauded the outcomes of the session, General Giang stressed that the Vietnamese defense leadership always creates favorable conditions for the two naval forces to carry out their cooperation, contributing to cementing the friendship, cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two nations and militaries.
