At the reception, General Nghia affirmed that Vietnam always attaches much importance to and hopes to further expand defense relations with the RoK. Recently, the two sides established cooperation mechanisms such as defense policy dialogues at the deputy-ministerial level, delegation exchanges at all levels, professional expertise sharing and so on. In addition, in April both sides signed a joint vision statement on defense cooperation towards 2030, reaching a consensus of boosting defense ties to be on par with the two countries’ relationship, he added.

On the occasion, the host thanked the RoK government for giving a non-refundable aid of USD 20 million to Vietnam to support unexploded ordinance (UXO) clearance projects in the Vietnamese Central provinces of Binh Dinh and Quang Binh.

For his part, the guest thanked the host for a warm reception and briefed him on the results of their previous working session with the Department of Military Security Protection under the GDP.

Highly applauding the outcomes of the working session, General Nghia stressed that the VPA and GDP’s leadership would advocate cooperative activities between the two sides in the time to come, thus contributing to cementing the profound friendship, cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two countries and militaries.
