On behalf of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the MND, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Defense Minister, chaired the meeting. Present at the event was also Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh.

At the meeting, General Chien emphasized that the CMC, MND highly appreciate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ close attention and coordination in international integration and defense diplomacy over the past time, contributing to the synchronous and comprehensive implementation of the external defense relations.
The deputy defense minister underlined that, together with the Party's diplomacy, State's diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy, the external defense relations are considered an important channel, making contribution to maintaining peaceful and stable environment, enhancing ties with countries and partners, building strategic trust, and enhancing the position of Vietnam in the international arena, with the target of safeguarding the Fatherland early and from afar.
General Chien spoke highly of the diplomats on being appointed to the position of heads of Vietnamese representative missions in foreign countries. They are diplomats with many years of experience and broad practical knowledge, who have made considerable contribution to the country’s diplomacy sector in general and defense external relations in particular. Thus, the CMC, MND hoped that they would successfully complete their assigned tasks, promote their role as a bridge between Vietnam and the world to contribute to strengthening the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and other countries and international organizations, foster military and defense cooperation, create a peaceful and stable environment and take advantage of all resources for the national development cause.

On this occasion, General Chien hoped that the diplomats will pay attention to and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese defense attaché agencies to complete the defense external relations missions.
In return, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh and other diplomats thanked the defense leader for the reception. They stressed the importance of the meeting in helping them learn more about tasks of Vietnamese defense attaché agencies and the country’s guidelines on boosting the defense external relations with other countries. At the same time, they affirmed to closely coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense in carrying out foreign affairs work in host nations in the coming time.
