The two sides signing the Memorandum of Understanding

The model of twinning between border posts and border protection companies, as well as between villages and hamlets on both sides of the border, has continued to be maintained and proven effective. Both sides have actively coordinated with local authorities to conduct public outreach and mobilize people to strictly comply with the Agreement on Border Management Regulations.

At the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding focusing on key areas, including continued cooperation in the strict implementation of the Protocol on Border and Border Markers; the Agreement on border regulations for the Vietnam - Laos border areas and land border gates.

Both sides agreed to strengthen information exchange regarding the activities of hostile organizations and individuals in order to ensure the safety of important events in both countries, and reaffirmed their determination to prevent the emergence of any “flashpoints” in border-adjacent areas.

In the coming period, the two sides will focus on coordinating efforts to effectively address illegal cultivation and settlement, as well as unlawful religious propaganda; prevent spontaneous migration; and effectively counter the plots and tricks of hostile and reactionary forces.
