Through the contest, the organizers hoped that students would demonstrate not only their knowledge, but also their sincere feelings, pure thoughts, and bright dreams, along with their pride as children of the heroic port city. The event also sought to strengthen military-civilian solidarity, foster patriotism and love for the national sea and islands, and enhance citizens’ sense of responsibility in the cause of building and firmly safeguarding the sacred maritime sovereignty of the Fatherland.
