Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes speaks at the press conference.

Speaking at the press conference, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes emphasized that despite facing economic difficulties, Cuba maintains its annual scholarship program for Vietnam. This demonstrates the special solidarity and historical bond between the two nations. The program not only provides opportunities for Vietnamese students to improve their professional qualifications, especially in the medical field, but also practically contributes to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.

Statistics show that since 1961, approximately 1,300 Vietnamese students have graduated in Cuba. Currently, the Cuban Government is building a network of international alumni to promote cooperation in education and science. The first meeting of foreign alumni is expected to be organized next year, in celebration of the 100th birthday of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

According to the notification from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, applications must be submitted online or in person to the ministry’s International Cooperation Department before March 31, 2026.
