Sr. Col. Trang Quang Thanh speaks at the meeting. |
The delegation included 74 representatives who are wounded and sick soldiers, as well as families of those who made contributions to the revolution. Authorized by the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Political Affairs, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Policy Senior Colonel Tran Quang Thanh chaired the reception.
At the meeting, on behalf of the delegation, Deputy Director of the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Thuy Nhu, reported on several achievements in the province’s efforts to care for and implement policies for wounded and sick soldiers, families of martyrs, people with meritorious service to the revolution, and social welfare policies.
Ca Mau province is currently managing more than 185,000 people with meritorious service and their relatives. Nearly 22,000 individuals receive monthly allowances, totaling more than VND 60 billion. The province has issued numerous support policies for people with meritorious service and their families; organized activities to honor martyrs and support families of martyrs; allocated funds to restore and preserve memorial sites dedicated to fallen soldiers; and promoted the “Gratitude” movement, the construction of gratitude houses, and the care of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers.
Speaking at the meeting, Col. Thanh expressed profound gratitude for the immense contributions and sacrifices of heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and individuals and families with meritorious service to the revolution in Ca Mau province during the struggle for national liberation, as well as in the cause of national construction and defense.
He affirmed that in recent years, under the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission and MND, MND’s functional agencies have closely grasped tasks and worked closely with central ministries, sectors, and localities to study and propose to the Party and the State the timely issuance, amendment, and supplementation of numerous legal documents on policies for people with meritorious service to the revolution and policies for military families. These efforts help meet the aspirations of policy beneficiaries while educating officers and soldiers, especially the younger generation, about the Vietnamese tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and “Gratitude,” thereby helping spread these values throughout society.
