These efforts have helped strengthen the image of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers in general and soldier-journalists in particular in the hearts of local officials, Party members, and residents.

Cao Bang holds a special place in the history of military journalism. On December 27, 1944, Vo Nguyen Giap directly oversaw the publication of Tieng Sung Reo in Tran Hung Dao Forest, Nguyen Binh district. The newspaper was the predecessor of the PAN, which officially adopted its name on October 20, 1950, as given by President Ho Chi Minh.

The People’s Army Newspaper, in coordination with Nguyen Hue commune, presents Tet gifts to households facing difficult circumstances in the area.

For the people of Cao Bang, the PAN is more than the voice of the armed forces and the people. It is also a publication with deep roots in their homeland.

Over the years, the newspaper has strengthened its ties with Nguyen Hue commune through reporting that reflects local life, recognizes achievements in Party building and socio-economic development, and highlights grassroots initiatives and aspirations. Articles such as “Reaching the finish line ahead of schedule!,” “Making Party cell meetings more practical,” and “Building a prosperous, beautiful, and renewed Nguyen Hue commune” have brought the locality closer to readers nationwide while encouraging local officials, Party members, and residents.

For the community, seeing their homeland, villages, and familiar faces featured in the newspaper of the heroic Viet Nam People’s Army is a source of pride. The coverage also helps bring attention to local achievements, effective initiatives, and the challenges residents face.

The newspaper’s commitment has extended beyond reporting to practical assistance. In early October 2025, heavy rains and flooding affected all 31 hamlets in Nguyen Hue commune, forcing 28 households to evacuate urgently. On October 11, a delegation from the PAN visited the commune, offering encouragement and providing essential household items and food worth VND 65 million to affected residents.

The assistance helped ease immediate difficulties and encouraged local authorities and residents to unite in overcoming the disaster’s aftermath.

In recent years, the PAN and its partners have provided a total of VND 539 million in assistance to localities and residents across Cao Bang province. The support included VND 340 million for the construction and handover of four houses under a program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing; 100 sets of warm blankets and winter clothing, worth VND 69 million; 100 gift packages, worth VND 65 million, to help residents recover from Typhoon No.10 in 2025; and 100 Tet gift packages, worth VND 65 million, in 2026 for policy families, poor households, and families facing hardship.

During the Lunar New Year 2026, the newspaper also coordinated with the commune’s Party committee and authorities to distribute 100 gift packages to families in need and policy beneficiaries, helping them welcome the holiday in better circumstances.

Dam Thanh Huong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Nguyen Hue commune, expressed gratitude for the support provided by generations of PAN soldier-journalists. He said the commune’s Party organization, authorities, and residents would continue to cherish and preserve this relationship, hoping it would grow stronger in the years ahead.

He emphasized that maintaining this bond was not only a way to express gratitude for the newspaper’s contributions but also a responsibility for the current generation to carry forward a valuable tradition of solidarity and goodwill.
