PANO - Researchers from the Coastal Branch of the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Center have been deployed artificial reefs in Nha Trang Bay, Khanh Hoa province.

The deployment is part of the project “Testing of Artificial Reefs Associated with Marine Ecotourism and Recreational Fishing in the Western Area of Hon Mun, Nha Trang Bay,” a Khanh Hoa provincial-level research project led by the Coastal Branch of the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Center.

Project leader Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Vu Viet Dung, head of the Tropical Ecology Division at the Coastal Branch, said the project aims to establish artificial reefs to increase biodiversity in the surrounding area. Researchers are also transplanting corals onto artificial reef substrates to help restore and rehabilitate marine coral ecosystems that have deteriorated in recent years.
