Over the past days, flood swept many localities in Central provinces, particularly Quang Tri, submerging various houses, local people’s properties, and public facilities.

The flash flood on the evening of November 13 made the house of Nguyen Van Truyen in Dinh Xa village, Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, 1.5 meters deep in floodwater. Many of Truyen’s family's properties and crops were seriously damaged.

Division 968’s troops help people in Cam Hieu and Cam Tuyen communes overcome consequences of the latest disaster.

Asked by the local authorities and agreed upon by the Military Region 4 Command, the division sent more than 200 troops to flood-hit places, especially kindergartens, schools, disadvantaged households and other public facilities, to give them timely assistance to help local people soon resume their normal life.

On November 13 and 14, in Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, it rained heavily. Water from upstream flowed into the Hieu River. As a result, many residential areas in communes near the banks of the Hieu River were flooded. Among the affected areas, Cam Hieu and Cam Tuyen communes had over 600 houses submerged by 1-3 meters. Hundreds of public facilities were inundated deep in the water.

Carrying out the motto “Helping people clean up wherever the water recedes,” the troops of Division 968 are giving helping hands to local people.

Soldier Ho Van Giap from Battalion 5 of Division 968’s Regiment 19 shared, “On arriving in here, we saw floodwater covering all the roads and houses. Local people were having a hard time. As soldiers, we are determined to do our utmost to help people overcome the consequences of the flood.”

Flooding is developing complicatedly in provinces in Central Vietnam. In this situation, the Military Region 4 Command has directed its affiliated agencies and units to keep their forces and vehicles on standby to do the “combat missions in peacetime" on request in the spirit of “the people’s affairs are ours” in the fastest and most effective manner.
