In the last days of October 2023, in addition to prolonged rains, hydroelectric power plants in localities in the area had to discharge water, causing a heavy flood in Huong Khe district.

In that situation, the local authorities and troops of Hoa Hai Border Post quickly moved to the scene in response to the flooding. They moved the flood-hit victims and their property to safer places. They were also on standby to be ready in any circumstances.

According to Chairman of the Hoa Hai commune People’s Committee Nguyen Dang Phu, this year’s flood developed complicatedly, thus the troops and local authorities have made thorough preparation to ensure safety for local people. “But it was hard to reduce losses of construction and traffic roads. After the flooding, we quickly rushed to the scene to help locals overcome flood aftermath,” he added.

Over the past days, Hoa Hai Border Post has done their utmost in response to the flood. Second-in-Command Officer of Hoa Hai Border Post Major Do Manh Hung held that the unit’s troops were well aware of their responsibility to support the flood-hit people.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hao’s and Mrs. Tran Thi Tinh’s families were two of the households receiving the timely support from local border guards. Accordingly, the troops not only helped them clean up the environment but also offered necessities so that their family would soon stabilize their life.

These practical activities of the border troops in flood-hit localities contributed to deepening the military-civilian ties and promoting the beautiful images of Uncle’s soldiers.
