More troops mobilized to help people surmount flood aftermath
PANO - The Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command deployed 50 officers and troops to flood-hit areas in Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh province) on November 2 to help local authorities and people surmount flood aftermath.
Regardless of careful preparations, the recent rains and flooding in Huong Khe district caused severe damage to properties. The latest statistics revealed that heavy rains and flood left two people dead, one missing, nearly 1,000 flooded houses and 8 schools, 16 village halls and a post office were damaged.
Moreover, many traffic routes, lakes, dams, and river embankments suffered erosion. It is estimated that the total loss and economic damages caused by floods and rains in Huong Khe district reached over VND 150 billion.
During the flood, despite torrential rains and other risks to their lives, Ha Tinh border troops coordinated with functional forces and local authorities to evacuate local people and their properties to safer places. After floodwater began to recede, the troops continued to help local people overcome natural disaster consequences, thereby soon resuming their normal life and production activities.
Together with border stations, on November 2, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command sent 50 officers and soldiers to flood-hit areas of Huong Khe district to clean the environment in schools, village cultural houses, and people’s houses.
In spite of the hot weather, Ha Tinh border troops and other forces heightened their responsibilities in supporting local people to soon stabilize their normal life.
