Defense leader pays tribute to former Party, State and military leaders
PANO – On December 19, on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 36th anniversary of the Whole-People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 – 2025), a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense, led by General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, visited, presented gifts, and offered incense in tribute to former and late leaders of the Party, the State, and the military.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong and the delegation visited the families and offered incense in memory of late Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs; late President Le Duc Anh, former Minister of National Defense; as well as other former Ministers of National Defense, former Chiefs of the General Staff, and former Deputy Ministers of National Defense.

During the visits, General Nguyen Tan Cuong and the delegation expressed their profound gratitude for the great contributions and dedication of the former leaders of the Party, the State, and the military to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, as well as to the building of the Vietnam People’s Army, the strengthening of national defense, and the protection of the Fatherland.

Visiting and presenting gifts to Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces and former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, General Nguyen Tan Cuong inquired about his health and situation, and briefed him on the outstanding results achieved by the entire military in carrying out military and defense tasks in recent times, as well as key missions currently being implemented by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. He wished Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy continued good health and expressed hope that he would keep paying close attention to the military’s development and contributing valuable opinions to helping build the Vietnam People’s Army into an increasingly strong force capable of fulfilling all missions entrusted by the Party, the State, and the people.
