Tanh’s family has long struggled with poverty and hardship. Their old house, built nearly 20 years ago, had severely deteriorated, with leaking roofs, decayed walls, and partitions that could no longer shield them from the sun and rain. With limited farmland and meager income, the family had no means to repair or rebuild, and for many years had to endure living in a temporary, dilapidated shelter.

Sharing this difficulty, the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak Province provided support to build a “Great unity” house for Tanh’s family. After four months of construction, the new house, covering nearly 100 sq.m. and comprising a living room, three bedrooms, and a kitchen, was completed at a total cost of over VND 250 million. Of this, VND 50 million was funded by the Province’s Border Guard Command and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, while the remainder came from Tanh’s family, his relatives, and the contribution of working days from officers and soldiers of Ea H’Leo Border Guard Post.

On this occasion, Ea H’Leo Border Guard Post also launched a livelihood support model of pig and freshwater fish farming for Tanh’s family. The unit provided 15 kgs of fish and six piglets to the family, worth a total value of nearly VND 20 million. The funding came from the contributions of officers and soldiers together with the unit’s welfare fund.

Major Nguyen Phi Lanh, Deputy Political Chief of Ea H’Leo Border Guard Post, said that in the coming time the unit will work with Ia Lop Commune's chapter of the Farmers’ Association to provide technical guidance in animal care, herd development, and economic sustainability for the family. Once the model proves effective, it other disadvantaged households in the area will also be support.
