During the event, attendees were briefed on the decision by the Minister of National Defense to merge the two departments. While awaiting the official appointment, Lieutenant General Thai Van Minh has been assigned to oversee the new Department of Military Training and School Management.
In his speech, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia commended the pro-active and thorough preparation for the merger. He emphasized that the merger reflects the strategic direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to streamline and strengthen the military’s organizational structure, enhancing overall efficiency and combat readiness in line with the goal of building a regular, elite, and gradually modernized military.
He directed the new department to maintain unity, work closely with relevant agencies to organize personnel, and restructure according to the approved plan. It is essential to appoint qualified and ethical individuals to key positions to ensure regulatory compliance and effective preparation for upcoming Party congresses at all levels.

The process of merging and restructuring must not disrupt the unit’s political and operational missions. Any arising issues should be promptly addressed, with special care given to maintaining the morale of servicemen, he concluded.
