Vietnamese and Chinese militaries to expand political cooperation
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), on December 3 had talks with Lieutenant General Liu Dewei, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Work under China's Central Military Commission (CMC), during his visit to China from December 2-7.
At the talks, Lieutenant General Liu Dewei highly appreciated the China visit of the high-ranking political officers of Vietnam and affirmed that the visit would help strengthen traditional friendship between the two militaries and peoples, contributing to promoting the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership and defense cooperation in an effective and practical manner.

For his part, the Vietnamese head delegate highlighted stable and positive developments in the bilateral relations over the past time, saying that leaders of the two countries have created favorable conditions for the militaries to promote their cooperation. The two countries should further implement the joint vision declaration on defense cooperation by 2025 between the Vietnamese and Chinese defense ministries, including in Party and political work, contributing to fostering relationship between the two Parties, States and militaries.
Furthermore, the two sides exchanged experiences and agreed on some approaches to promote political and ideological education and dissemination in the army in order to build a politically strong army capable of fighting wrongful viewpoints of hostile forces.
They also voiced their proposals to increase cooperation activities between the VPA’s General Department of Politics and CMC’s Department of Political Work and relevant agencies in the coming time.
Earlier, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia paid a courtesy call on Senior Lieutenant General Miao Hua, Director of China’s Department of Political Work.
