Naval ships of both countries during the joint patrol |
During the patrol, both sides performed the "Hello ASEAN," the procedure of greeting each other at sea among naval ships of ASEAN countries, exchanged information, trained in semaphore (flag signaling), practiced search and rescue operations, and the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES), which is used by the navies of Western Pacific countries.
Naval Commander Phung Duc Huy, Second-in-command and Chief of the Staff of Brigade 127, who commanded the Vietnamese patrol vessel, emphasized that the naval forces of both countries strictly adhered to coordination regulations, effectively implementing all planned activities. They also actively engaged with fishermen from both nations, promoting compliance with legal fishing regulations.
With thorough preparation and close coordination, the 78th joint patrol between Ship 251 and Ship 1142 was a success.
This cooperation further strengthened the partnership, enhanced mutual understanding and trust between the two navies, and contributed to maintaining security, peace, and stability in the Vietnam - Cambodia historical waters.
