During the meeting, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister affirmed that the Party, State, and Vietnam People’s Army consistently attach great importance to consolidating and developing relations with China. He stressed that cooperation in border management and protection is a key area within the defense cooperation framework between the two countries.

Acknowledging the outcomes of the talks held earlier the same day between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and China’s National Immigration Administration, Gen. Chien expressed his satisfaction that cooperation between the two agencies has achieved many positive results. Notable among these are the maintenance of delegation exchanges; close coordination to ensure the smooth operation of the three-tier law enforcement coordination mechanism in border control at border gates and land border management; and the frequent organization of talks, exchange programs, and information sharing.
The Vietnamese defense leader proposed that, in the time ahead, the Vietnam Border Guard and China’s National Immigration Administration accelerate the signing of agreements and documents aimed at enhancing cooperation in entry - exit control; further expand delegation exchanges and political exchange activities at all levels, including young officer exchanges; and effectively implement joint and bilateral patrol mechanisms.
He also emphasized the need to strengthen information exchange on issues related to combating trans-national crime; study administrative procedure reforms and border-gate control measures to facilitate the movement of goods, people, and vehicles; and jointly maintain a border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

For his part, the deputy head of China’s National Immigration Administration highlighted the positive outcomes of cooperation between the two countries’ border management and protection forces, especially close coordination in law enforcement, maintaining order and security in the border areas of both sides, and managing entry - exit activities.
Sharing information on the results of the December 10 talks with the Vietnam Border Guard Command, the Chinese guest acknowledged the common understanding reached by both sides in areas such as border management; crime prevention and control; maintaining border security and order; and training. He expressed hope that, in the coming time, both sides will continue to coordinate closely to jointly preserve and develop the Vietnam - China border of peace, stability, bringing happiness for the peoples of both nations.
