Viet Nam - Russia defense cooperation deepened

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang emphasized that Col. Gen. Zarudnitsky’s visit to Viet Nam was a timely and effective step in implementing the areas of cooperation agreed upon by the two countries’ defense ministers during the recent state visit to Russia by General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse.

According to Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang, bilateral defense ties have continued to be consolidated and strengthened, becoming one of the important pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia, with positive results achieved across various areas. Cooperation in military training, in particular, has been a highlight of bilateral defense relations.

For his part, Gen. Zarudnitsky expressed his confidence that the visit to Viet Nam would obtain positive outcomes, particularly in cooperation between the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russia and the National Defense Academy of Viet Nam. He welcomed the positive results of cooperation between the two countries’ defense ministries, especially in training, and expressed his wish that the two sides would continue coordinating the implementation of cooperation areas in the coming period, thereby making bilateral defense relations increasingly substantive and effective.

The Vietnamese defense leader also spoke highly of the cooperation between the two academies in recent years. In particular, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in military education and scientific research between the two sides during the current visit will provide an important framework for strengthening cooperation and further improving the effectiveness of coordination in activities such as exchanges of cadets and instructors, training courses, scientific research and professional experience sharing.

Regarding future cooperation, he asked the two academies to closely coordinate and effectively implement the areas agreed upon in the MoU, with a focus on exchanges of delegations of officers, instructors and cadets; expanding cooperation into areas where both sides have strengths; and training and developing military personnel and officers, particularly those at the operational and strategic levels.
