Defense mission visits Vietnamese peacekeeper doctors in Bentiu
PANO – A mission of the Ministry of National Defense, led by Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics, visited and talked with personnel of the Level-two Field Hospital (L2FH) Rotation 1 of Vietnam in Bentiu, South Sudan, on November 13.
Speaking at the meeting, General Phuong praised efforts and achievements recorded by the personnel of Vietnam’s L2FH Rotation 1 since it was deployed to UN Mission to replace the L2FH of the U.K. in South Sudan a year ago. He asked the hospital’s members to continue studying to raise their professional competence after coming back to Vietnam.

Since its deployment, Vietnam’s L2FH Rotation 1 has provided health checkups and treatment for more than 2,000 patients. Their professional competence and enthusiasm were highly appreciated by leaders of the UN mission and its staff.
Phuong said that members of the L2FH Rotation 1 will share their valuable experiences acquired during their time in South Sudan with their peers of the second one, so as to raise healthcare quality for members of the UN in the mission.
On the same day, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong and the working mission paid a courtesy call on Ms. Hiroko Hirahara, Chief of the UNMISS Field Office in Bentiu, and Mick James, a representative from the field assistance office in Bentiu. The delegates also visited a regular training session for members of the L2FH Rotation 1, the hospital’s operation room, and its personnel’s accommodations.
