Remains of 58 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors found in Laos
PANO - A delegation from the Embassy of Vietnam in Laos, led by Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the noble international mission, on March 26 in Phonsavan town, Xieng Khouang province, Laos.

The delegation visited and encouraged the Nghe An provincial Military Command’s team in charge of searching and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military advisors who laid down their lives while conducting international service in Xieng Khouang, Xaysomboun, and Vientiane provinces.
Despite the harsh weather conditions and rough mountainous terrains, the team successfully fulfilled the mission thanks to the close direction and facilitation of Steering Committees 515 at all levels and support from Party Committees, authorities, armed forces and people in the three provinces

After 5 months of searching, the team found and collected 58 sets of remains of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors, including 51 sets of remains in Xieng Khouang province, six in Xaysomboun, and one in Vientiane. The remains have currently been laid to rest at a military barrack in Phonsavan town.
During the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam praised the achievements of the team and urged its members to bring into play the obtained results, stay united, and overcome challenges to complete the assigned tasks of searching, collecting, and repatriating martyrs’ remains

He suggested the Nghe An provincial Military Command’s leadership ensure proper policies and welfare for the team members while reminding them to strictly adhere to the laws of both countries and maintain absolute safety during their operations.
