The Political Department of Military Region 5 has coordinated with the Women’s Association of Thanh An 96 Construction Joint Stock Company (Corps 11) and the Women’s Chapter of Viettel Da Nang to organize a ceremony offering flowers and incense in tribute to fallen heroes and martyrs. The groups also visited, presented gifts to and encouraged officers, soldiers, and militia and self-defense forces engaged in searching for and collecting martyrs’ remains.

In Hung Yen province, the Steering Committee 515 reported that as of August 30, all 4,356 unidentified martyrs’ graves had been excavated and sampled, yielding more than 3,700 samples, or nearly 86 percent. All biological samples were preserved and handed over to the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine. The province will continue to collect information on martyrs’ remains buried outside cemeteries, conduct surveys and verification, and organize searches and exhumations for DNA testing.
In Quang Tri province, the Steering Committee 515 held a workshop to verify information about martyrs and their graves in the Con Tien area. Documents, field traces and other evidence presented at the workshop indicated that the area was the place where soldiers of Battalion 4, Regiment 812, Division 324, and attached units were killed in a battle in the early morning of May 8, 1967. Witnesses, researchers and relevant agencies examined the evidence, determined the number and time of deaths and unit designations, and reviewed previous search and collection efforts. The workshop agreed to expand excavation and searches for martyrs’ remains in the area.
Meanwhile, the Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh province worked with the Administrative Board of Pailin province, Cambodia, to coordinate preparations for the search and collection during the 2026-2027 dry season. The two sides agreed to focus on information verification, field surveys and contact with witnesses and local residents familiar with the area. Pailin's leaders pledged continued support and favorable conditions for Team K73 of the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command to carry out its mission.
In Khanh Hoa province, samples have been collected from all 2,124 unidentified graves at seven martyrs’ cemeteries. Of these, 1,240 yielded samples suitable for DNA testing, accounting for 58.38 percent, and the samples were handed over to the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine. The province has also collected 2,740 of the 3,018 planned DNA samples from martyrs’ relatives, reaching 90.7 percent of the target, and recovered 59 sets of martyrs’ remains. It aims to collect all 3,018 DNA samples, verify information on 168 areas and 946 martyrs’ graves, and recover 150 additional sets of remains.

In Dang Thuy Tram commune, Quang Ngai province, local authorities have recovered three sets of martyrs’ remains during a search in Dong Ram village. The remains were placed in coffins and handed over to the commune’s Culture and Social Affairs Division for preservation and memorial worship in accordance with regulations. Relevant authorities are continuing the verification process.
The Da Nang Municipal Military Command has also received initial information from veteran Le Dinh Hung about burial sites associated with Infirmary 78 and the Quang Da Front 44 during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists. The Ta La - Hon Quam area is believed to have contained three burial sites with nearly 300 graves. The command is calling on veterans, martyrs’ relatives, former personnel of the Quang Da Front 44 and Infirmary 78, and others with relevant information to provide details about units, operational locations, burial sites or martyrs who died between 1968 and 1972.
