Samples from martyrs’ remains arrive in Ha Noi for DNA testing

A solemn ceremony to pay tribute to the fallen and hand over the samples to the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology and the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine for DNA testing and identification was held at the airport by the Air Defense - Air Force Service, Military Region 7 and the People’s Committees of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Lam Dong provinces.

At the ceremony, Sr. Col. Nguyen Huu Toan, Deputy Director of the Political Department of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, expressed profound gratitude to the soldiers who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people.

Maj. Gen. Nguyen Huy Tuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, said that each flight in the “500-day campaign” carries significance beyond its transport mission. The biological samples transported for DNA testing represent individual stories and lives, as well as the hopes of martyrs’ relatives who have waited for decades to identify their loved ones and restore their names and hometowns.
