Troops distributing leaflets and disseminate regulations under the Fisheries Law |
During the event, troops visited fishing vessels to distribute leaflets and disseminate regulations under the Fisheries Law, focusing on the prevention of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. They also guided fishermen on recording and submitting fishing logs, reporting vessel monitoring system (VMS) disconnections, and maintaining 24/7 operation of VMS devices while at sea.
The working group instructed fishermen on how to contact coast guard and border guard forces when issues arise during fishing operations and encouraged them to sign commitments not to fish illegally in foreign waters or violate IUU regulations.

The campaign aimed to raise fishermen’s awareness and promote voluntary compliance with Party’s guidelines and State’s laws during fishing activities. Fishermen were reminded to clearly understand Vietnam’s maritime boundaries, avoid illegal exploitation in foreign waters, and join efforts to help remove the European Commission’s “yellow card” on Vietnam’s seafood industry.
On this occasion, Squadron 202 distributed 100 leaflets and presented 50 national flags to local fishermen.
Also on November 3, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, in coordination with the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, Mass Mobilization, the Phan Ri Cua Commune People’s Committee, and Hoa Minh Border Post, organized the “Coast guards stand by fishermen” program at Phan Ri Cua Fishing Port.
