Over the past time, the province’s authorities have paid due attention to improving education and training quality, especially for ethnic minority groups.

Deputy Director of the provincial Education and Training Department Thach Tha Lai held that to implement the Project 5 on developing education and training and raising quality of human resources under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority-Inhabited and Mountainous Areas in the 2021-2030 period – Phase 1 from 2021-2025, Tra Vinh was allocated a budget of VND 48 billion to upgrade schools and support teachers and students in ethnic minority-inhabited localities.

Ms. Kim My Hoa in Ham Giang commune, Tra Cu district shared that thanks to due care from local authorities, her children are offered free tuition at school.

Meanwhile, more than just being a place of worship, many temples and pagodas in the province teach Khmer language to local students for free.

Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Quynh Thien shared that these classes aim to preserve and promote the Khmer language and cultural heritage among residents.

In the coming time, the province plans to further develop education quality in ethnic minority-inhabited areas, repair downgraded classrooms, and improve the competence of instructors and teachers, and those in charge of education management, in order to raise education quality in the province in general.
