After safely docking at the port of Cam Ranh Base, representatives of Naval Region 4, troops of Ship 468, the fisherman’s relatives, and local agencies gathered to inquire after and encourage the rescued individual.

At 9 a.m. on November 14, Ship 468 was on patrol near Da Nam Island in the Truong Sa Island District when it received orders to transport patient Ngo Thanh Phong from Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay) Island to the mainland for medical treatment.

Fishing vessel QNg 95179 TS, owned by Ngo Thanh Cong (25 years old, from Binh Chanh commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province), operates as a squid-fishing boat with 35 crew-members. The vessel departed Dung Quat Port in Binh Chanh on September 21.

During fishing operations, crew-ember Ngo Thanh Phong (47 years old, from the same commune) sustained gas burn injury. He received first aid onboard and was transferred to Song Tu Tay Island for emergency treatment on September 30. Doctors diagnosed him with extensive burns covering 22 percent of his body (face, neck, and arms) caused by a gas cylinder fire.

Upon handover, the patient was conscious, with no fever. His facial, neck, and arm injuries were healing, showing skin regeneration though mild joint pain were noted in his ankles. Representatives of Naval Region 4 handed the patient over to his family and local authorities for further treatment.
