Improving local residents’ living standards

Focusing on grassroots support and improving people’s livelihoods, the provincial Border Guard force has implemented programs tailored to local conditions, including “Houses in border areas,” “Paving the way to school for students - Adopted children of border posts,” “Accompanying border women,” “Border spring warms residents’ hearts,” and the “Whole people’s border festive day.” According to Senior Colonel Vu Ngoc Doan, Political Chief of the provincial Border Guard Command, these initiatives aim to support local residents, particularly disadvantaged families in coastal border areas.

Beyond immediate assistance, many programs have focused on sustainable livelihoods to help residents stabilize their lives and continue fishing offshore. In the 2015-2025 period, the provincial border guard force coordinated with agencies and businesses to build 75 “Houses in border areas,” 11 houses of compassion, and two great solidarity houses, while presenting breeding cows to impoverished households for economic development and mobilizing thousands of workdays to help local people build houses and rural infrastructure.

Accompanying young generation

The provincial border guard force has also paid special attention to education and care for children in coastal areas. Through the “Paving the way to schools for students - Adopted children of border posts” program, many disadvantaged students have received financial support to continue their education.

A notable initiative is the “Class of compassion” model run by officers of Cau Bong Border Post for over two decades. Over the past more than 10 years, the program has mobilized more than VND 5.5 billion to support disadvantaged students, including monthly assistance for dozens of children, many of them from ethnic communities.

At the same time, border units have organized thousands of legal awareness sessions to improve residents’ understanding of maritime sovereignty protection and compliance with fishing regulations.

Through these close and practical activities, the image of border guard soldiers has become increasingly familiar and trusted among coastal residents. For many fishermen, border posts are not only places responsible for border management and protection, but also reliable support points during hardships and offshore fishing trips.

Building firm people’s heart posture

In addition to socio-economic support, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard force has played a key role in disaster prevention, search and rescue operations at sea. Whenever storms, tropical depressions, or maritime incidents occur, border guard troops are always among the first to assist local people.

According to Sr. Col. Vu Ngoc Doan, the force will continue expanding the effective “Skillful mass mobilization” movement, combining socio-economic development with defense and security consolidation, while promoting people’s role in safeguarding national maritime sovereignty.

The meaningful and persistent efforts of Khanh Hoa provincial border guard troops are helping transform coastal communities and strengthen military-civilian solidarity, contributing to firmly safeguarding national maritime sovereignty and border security in the new situation.
