During the meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Dak Nong provincial Department of Labors, Invalids and Social Affairs Hoang Viet Nam recalled the province’s achievements in different fields. He said that upholding traditions of the revolutionary land, the party organization, authorities, troops, and people of Dak Nong province have been active and creative and determined to obtain important and comprehensive achievements in different fields. Notably, the province has paid attention to carrying out policies for national contributors and social security programs.

At the event, Gen. Minh handed over MND’s gifts to 25 national contributors from the Central Highlands province. The GDP deputy chief also took the occasion to brief them on the military’s activities over the past time. He emphasized that the military has thoroughly studied the Party’s guidelines, closely followed and accurately forecast situational developments to make recommendations on military and defense work to the Party and State, pro-actively cooperated with other forces to effectively handle circumstances, contributing to firmly safeguarding independence, national sovereignty, territorial integrity; protecting the Party, State, people, and socialism; and maintaining political stability and peaceful environment for national construction and development.
He went on to say that over the past years, the “gratitude” movement has been paid attention to by party committees and chains-of-command of agencies and units in the military. Over the past ten years, the whole military has mobilized troops and other resources to donate VND 550 billion to the “Gratitude Fund,” built more than 7,000 houses, taken care of 2,879 heroic Vietnamese mothers, and provided care for 702 children whose parents are martyrs or wounded soldiers.
Regarding the search, collection, and identification of fallen soldiers, since 2012, around 20,000 sets of remains of fallen soldiers have been found.

The military has pro-actively proposed measures and thoughtfully carried out policies for those who participated in the fight for national independence and international services. Defense agencies and military units have closely worked with functional agencies to provide one-time grants and monthly allowance to 260,000 people who participated in the resistance war against French colonialists, 1.7 million people who joined the anti-American war, more than 1.3 million people who fought in the national defense war and carried out international services in Laos and Cambodia, and 1.4 frontline conscripted laborers.

The deeds of the troops of the Vietnam People’s Army have contributed to the Party and people’s efforts in taking care of policy beneficiaries and national contributors and educating young generations about the “When drinking water, remember its source” tradition of the Vietnamese people, said Gen. Minh.
