At night on June 4, patient Sy Danh Thang, aged 68 and living in Son Tay town, Hanoi, was hospitalized at the hospital in a critical condition. Doctors diagnosed him with myocardial infarction and that his coronary artery needed to be cleared.
Immediately, a technical team led by Doctor Phan Anh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Cardiology-Nephrology-Bone and Joint Department of the hospital, placed a stent for the patient, thus bypassing the damaged coronary artery allowing the blood to flow freely again.
Thang is now recovering with stable blood pressure.
Placing a stent to save a patient experiencing a myocardial infarction is a new and modern technique that the hospital has applied, contributing to more successful diagnosis and treatment for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
