Exchange boosts students’ knowledge of coast guard force

Teachers and students from Chu Huy Man Ethnic Semi-boarding Secondary School watch a documentary on the coast guard force’s traditions, functions, and missions.

The event was among dissemination activities to raise young generation’s awareness of the role in and responsibility for defending the country’s maritime sovereignty.

At the exchange, orators from Flotilla 21 gave a brief introduction of the foundation and development of the Vietnamese coast guard force and attainments gained by the Coast Guard Region 2 Command in 2024.

Teachers and students from Chu Huy Man Ethnic Semi-boarding Secondary School also learnt about the functions and missions assigned to the coast guard force, such as their duties to ensure security, order and safety in the waters across Vietnam, their prevention and control of crime and violations of maritime law, and their pro-activeness in search and rescue operations and protection of marine resources and environment.

During the event, the teachers and students got a chance to visit a coast guard ship and learn about the routine work of coast guard troops. This helped them be more aware of the unsung sacrifice of coast guard officers and soldiers in the cause of safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands, and heighten their responsibility for the protection.

The same day, 15 Youth Union members and youths of Flotilla 21 took part in an Olympic Run Day for whole people’s health, launched by the People’s Committee of Tam Quang commune in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Nam province, the 90th founding anniversary of the provincial Party Committee and the 79th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese Sports sector.
