Border lesson in Muong Lat

The lesson is held with the participation of 50 students from Muong Lat Primary and Lower Secondary School (Ten Tan school site).

It was part of the 2026 “Border area - Full moon festival” series of events, jointly organized by the Border Guard Command and Thanh Hoa province, contributing to fostering love for the homeland and raising awareness among students in the mountainous area of Muong Lat of their responsibility to protect national border sovereignty.

Early in the morning, 50 outstanding students from Muong Lat Primary and Lower Secondary School (Ten Tan school site) eagerly took part in a special lesson. There was no blackboard or chalk; instead, a lesson about the border was held right in the mountainous border area.

Directly leading the lesson, Major Nguyen Chi Ton, an officer of the Border Post of Ten Tan Border Gate, introduced basic knowledge about the borderline, border markers and relevant legal regulations. Through a bilingual Vietnamese-Lao teaching approach, what could otherwise have been dry content became more familiar and easy to understand. Standing before the marker No.281, the students had the opportunity to observe firsthand the marker demarcating territorial sovereignty. Through the border guard officer’s introduction, they learned that the Border Post of Ten Tan Border Gate is tasked with managing more than 23 kilometers of border with nine border markers.

The students not only listened to the lesson but also observed an armed patrol team demonstrate procedures for patrolling, surveillance and protecting border markers. They were also shown how to inspect the technical specifications and physical condition of a border marker and perform the border-marker salute ceremony.

In particular, the “young soldiers” were given the opportunity to participate directly in cleaning marker No.281. Each movement was carefully carried out under the guidance of border guard officers.

The lesson came to an end, but what the students heard, saw and experienced firsthand will continue to nurture their love for the homeland and their sense of responsibility toward the national border.
