Clothes presented to poor students |
During the event, as many as 200 gifts, including blankets, clothes, and biscuits were presented to people and students in the locality with a total value of some VND 50 million. An artistic exchange was also launched to tighten the close-knit ties between troops and people.
Mon Son border commune is home to three ethnic minority groups with the Thai people accounting for 80 percent, the Dan Lai people making up 12 percent and the Kinh people comprising 8 percent. The rate of poor households is high, 26.6 percent. Attentively, 100 percent of the Dan Lai people live in poverty. Therefore, numerous families could not afford to enjoy a cozy traditional lunar New Year (Tet).
Such a program would help them have a warm Tet and show border guards’ sentiments and responsibility for them.
* The same day, at the program in Mo Si San village in the commune of the same name, Phong Tho district, Vang Ma Chai Border Post under the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command and the commune Party and people’s committees organized various activities, such as free health check-ups and medicines, “Zero VND” stall, cultural and artistic exchanges, chung cake-making, folk game competition, and gift presentation.
In the program, the permanent deputy secretary of the Lai Chau provincial Party Committee handed over gifts to the village’s people; participating units and benefactors presented nearly 60 gifts to needy people and six students under the “Paving the way to school for students.”
Mo Si San is an extremely disadvantaged commune in Phong Tho district with 71 percent of poor and near poor households.

* Lung Cu Border Post under the Ha Giang provincial Border Guard Command and the party committees and authorities of Ma Le and Hung Cu communes have recently held the program “Border spring warms up border people’s hearts” in 2024.
The event was in response to the movement “Whole nation joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind,” and “Tet for the poor.” It aimed to share difficulties with local ethnic minority people and help poor households welcome a warm, cozy lunar New Year, as well as strengthen the military-civilian relations. In addition, it was seen as the gratitude gesture to local people for their support to local border guards, party committee and authorities in preserving political security, social order and safety in border areas, and firmly safeguarding national border sovereignty.
