Over the past time, the Women’s Union Organization of the An Giang provincial Border Guard Command has effectively conducted information dissemination and education to raise female officers’ awareness of the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s laws, and the tasks of the military, the border guard force and the unit; as well as promote good virtues of the Vietnamese women and female officers in the industrialization and modernization period, among others.

The union has strictly implemented directives, resolutions and plans of higher levels on promoting learning and following the Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle; Party building and rectification with the construction of the political system; promoting good qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers; and the campaign “Promoting traditions, devoting talent, deserving to be Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new situation.” The union has boosted law dissemination and education about domestic violence and sexual violence and abuse prevention and control; food hygiene and safety; the Law on the prevention and control of alcohol-related harms; and traffic safety, to name but a few. Therefore, the union’s members have had firm political stance and overcome difficulties to accomplish political tasks.

Apart from main tasks, the union has implemented various programs, including “Godmothers” and “Paving the way to school for children - Adopted children of border posts.” Meanwhile, on holidays and lunar New Year, the union coordinated with the Youth Union Organization of the provincial Border Guard Command to visit and present gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers in stationed areas; participated in activities of the “Border spring warms up border people’s hearts” program; and teamed up with border posts, local Women’s Union chapters, enterprises and benefactors to organize the “Standing by women in border areas” program with a series of meaningful activities, such as providing free health check-ups and medicines for needy people; giving livelihoods for Women’s Union members; granting scholarships to disadvantaged students with excellent academy results; and inquiring after troops on duty in border areas, and more, contributing to beautifying the images of female border guards in the people’s heart.
Attentively, the union has promoted its pioneering role in implementing the model of building self-management teams to protect border and border markers; and worked with the border guard forces to popularize legal documents on national border and conduct patrols along the borderline and border markers.
According to Senior Colonel Le Hoang Viet, Deputy Political Commissar of the An Giang provincial Border Guard Command, the officers and Women’s Union members of the command not only well perform missions assigned by the unit, but are also good wives and mothers. They have tried their best, together with their comrades, to accomplish all assignments. Therefore, the provincial Border Guard Command's Party Committee and Chain-of-Command have paid due attention to taking care of their spiritual and material life to encourage them to further uphold their role in protecting national sovereignty and border security.
