An Giang border troops help needy children go to school
PANO - The An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command held a meeting on May 29 to present financial support to students under the “Military officers and soldiers paving the way for students to school” program.
This program is implemented in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Decision No.1719/QD-TTg on the National Target Program for socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic minority areas during the 2021–2030 period, with the first phase covering the years 2021–2025.

Under this program, the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command provides financial support to disadvantaged ethnic minority students in the locality, helping them continue their studies and strive for a better future. Each student receives VND 7.4 million per year.
Reportedly, at Vinh Nguon Border Post, the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command presented support funds to six students from Chau Doc City, while ten other students from Tinh Bien Townlet received theirs at Nhon Hung Border Post.

In his speech, Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, expressed his delight at the program’s outcomes reported by the units. He was also impressed with the students’ academic performance in the 2024–2025 school year.
The officer emphasized that their academic achievements not only bring joy and pride to families, schools, and the local border guard force, but also highlight the profound humanistic significance and practical effectiveness of the program.
He added that the initiative serves as a source of encouragement and creates favorable conditions for students to further their education, improve their lives, and become good students and worthy grandchildren of Uncle Ho.
